The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) and Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, has announced that George Mason University student Abbesi Akhamie is the winner of the Empowering America video contest. Akhamie was awarded a $5,000 scholarship and her winning video "Steering Their Own Course: Celebrating the Women of Empowering America" can now be viewed on AWM's web site. Empowering America is a public service campaign that profiles inspiring women who have pioneered in fields such as science, social reform, public service, sports, journalism, music and aviation.
Having worked with numerous agencies and companies all over the world, it’s always been interesting to learn how the media operates in different countries and how the rules of engagement vary. As the U.S. division of the ION Global PR Network, a collective group of 400 global PR professionals representing 40 countries, we regularly share clients and campaign experiences with various regions.
