AJA Video has introduced Io XT, an add-on device that connects to an Apple Macintosh computer with a Thunderbolt interface and can daisy-chain to another or other video devices through a variety of connections.
Panasonic has announced that its AJ-PCD30 P2 drive—a new three-slot P2 device with a USB 3.0 interface for super-fast offloads from a P2 card—is now available. The USB 3.0 standard facilitates dramatically higher transfer rates, which achieves offloading AVC-Intra 100 or DVCPRO HD content at more than 12X real-time. This makes the PCD30 especially well-suited for use in reality television and long-form video production.

The Columbia College Television Department recently acquired six advanced EVS systems and associated controllers for a "tapeless system" which will be in place by next summer. The system allows students and faculty to share video content between studios and even the production truck without the use of tapes and tape decks, and is made by EVS Broadcast Equipment. EVS designs hardware and software for the production and playback of TV programs in both live and "near" live environments.
